Can the motor housing include external cooling fins?
Yes. Fin geometry can be evaluated as part of the extrusion cross-section, subject to die feasibility, wall balance and handling requirements.
Can the bore and end faces be CNC machined after extrusion?
Yes. Boring, end facing and other precision features can be machined from defined datums after extrusion and heat treatment.
Which alloy is suitable for an aluminum motor housing?
6063 is often selected for extrudability and finish quality, while 6061 or 6082 may be considered for higher strength or machining requirements. The drawing and application determine the final choice.
Can anodizing be kept off grounding or bearing-contact areas?
Yes. Masking or post-anodizing machining can be specified for functional contact surfaces.
What determines tooling and unit price?
Section size, weight, die complexity, alloy, tolerances, machining, finish, inspection, order quantity and packaging all affect quotation.
Can internal cooling channels be formed by extrusion?
Potentially, yes. Channel layout must be reviewed for die feasibility, wall balance, cleaning access and the required pressure or leak performance.
Can Chengdacai machine ports and O-ring grooves?
Yes. CNC milling, drilling, threading and groove machining can be integrated after extrusion.
Can the enclosure be leak or pressure tested?
Yes, when the customer supplies a defined test specification including medium, pressure, hold time and acceptance criteria.
Should sealing faces be anodized?
That depends on the seal design and corrosion requirements. The drawing should identify masked, coated and post-machined areas.
What files are required for DFM review?
A dimensioned 2D drawing is essential; a 3D model, thermal requirements, coolant details and assembly information improve the review.
Can the diffuser channel be integrated into the extrusion?
Yes. The interface can be designed into the profile, subject to extrusion feasibility and the tolerances required by the diffuser and assembly method.
Which alloy is commonly used for LED lighting profiles?
6063 is frequently considered for its extrudability and anodizing appearance. The final alloy depends on section design, strength and machining needs.
Can mounting holes and end-cap features be machined?
Yes. Cutting, drilling, milling, tapping and slot machining can be completed after extrusion.
How is anodized color consistency controlled?
Color control should use an approved sample and defined range. Alloy, temper, surface preparation, batch conditions and profile geometry can influence appearance.
Can finished profiles be protected against scratches?
Yes. Protective film, separators and project-specific export packaging can be evaluated for visible surfaces.
Technical guides
What files should be included with an RFQ?
Send dimensioned 2D drawings, available 3D files, revision level, alloy, finish, tolerances and quantity.

Can aluminum extrusion hold CNC-level tolerances?
Not across every as-extruded feature. Critical interfaces can often be CNC machined after extrusion when the application requires tighter control.

Which aluminum alloy gives the best dimensional accuracy?
No alloy is best for every profile. Geometry, temper, strength, finish and process route must be evaluated together. Review the 6061, 6063 and 6082 alloy guide .

Does anodizing change dimensions?
Anodizing changes the surface condition and can affect precision fits. Coating condition, masking and whether dimensions apply before or after finishing should be stated.
From Aluminum Extrusion Tolerance Guide: Design, Inspection and Cost Control
How should straightness be measured?
The drawing or quality agreement should define measurement length, support condition, reference and allowable deviation.
From Aluminum Extrusion Tolerance Guide: Design, Inspection and Cost Control
Why does profile length affect tolerance?
Bow and twist accumulate over length, and long aluminum profiles are more sensitive to support position and temperature during measurement.
From Aluminum Extrusion Tolerance Guide: Design, Inspection and Cost Control
What should be sent for a tolerance review?
Send the dimensioned drawing, alloy, temper, length, finish, quantities, critical features and inspection expectations. The aluminum extrusion RFQ checklist can help organize the request.

Can tracks, handles and mounting channels be integrated into one profile?
A custom cross section can integrate several functions when the geometry remains suitable for extrusion. Critical moving-system interfaces should be dimensioned and reviewed before tooling.
